"Putting patients interests at the heart of what we do"

Welcome to Almshouse Surgery & Sandal Castle Medical Centre

Our Practice has always been a bustling city central practice and although it started small, we recently registered our 13,000th patient. Together with our branch practice we are able to cover a large section of Wakefield from Ossett and Wrenthorpe right over to Hall Green and Walton. We welcome registrations from any individual residing in our practice area.

Hopefully you can find all the information you need on our website but please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more information or if you have any feedback.

Patient Notice

Dr Power has retired from the practice. We wish him a long and happy retirement.

If you saw Dr Power on a regular basis we would encourage you to book an appointment to see another doctor so that we can continue your care.

Named GP

All patients will be allocated a named GP from the 1st April 2015 under the GMS contract requirements. This does not change the way in which we operate or affect your ability to make an appointment or speak with any of the GPs in the practice.

Some patients will have been notified of this named GP, all other patients will be notified of their named GP on their next interaction with the surgery. Please feel free to contact us should you wish to find out before then.

We would like to stress that this does NOT have an effect on who you see when you visit the surgery. All our GP’s can
access your medical records and provide the same level of care. Patients can request a specific named GP should they wish to do so. Only requests made in writing to the practice will be considered.

Patient Reference Group

Our PRG group meet on a regular basis to discuss practice matters. The next meeting is;
